Application-engineered battery solutions

Marine and yacht battery systems must fit restricted spaces while supporting house loads, navigation electronics, pumps, refrigeration, inverters or project-specific propulsion support. A custom pack can align voltage, usable energy, BMS, enclosure, connectors and communications with the vessel.

Quick answer

For a yacht battery quotation, provide the vessel type, existing battery voltage, daily energy use, largest load, alternator or shore charger details, available compartment size, ambient temperature and whether the battery area is exposed to moisture or salt air.

What can be customized?

System voltage 12V, 24V or 48V vessel architecture to be confirmed
Energy Sized for house loads, reserve time and charging opportunities
BMS integration Protection, SOC data and optional vessel-system communications
Charging sources Shore power, alternator, solar and inverter/charger compatibility review
Enclosure Mounting, ventilation, moisture and salt-exposure requirements
Connections Marine cable, fuse coordination, terminals and service disconnect concept

Typical applications

  • Yacht house battery banks
  • Sailboats
  • Motorboats
  • Navigation and communications backup
  • Onboard refrigeration and pumps
  • Marine research and monitoring equipment

Engineering considerations

  1. Review every charging source before replacing lead-acid batteries.
  2. Document inverter surge and motor-start currents.
  3. Separate water-ingress requirements from marketing IP labels.
  4. Plan secure mounting for vessel movement and vibration.
  5. Coordinate alarms, SOC reporting and emergency isolation.

Testing, certification, lead time and final performance depend on the approved design and project requirements; confirm them during engineering review.

Frequently asked questions

Can a yacht lead-acid bank be replaced with LiFePO4?

It may be possible, but the alternator, shore charger, solar controller, cabling, fusing, BMS limits and available space must be reviewed together.

What size lithium battery does a yacht need?

Size depends on daily Wh consumption, reserve days, charging availability, inverter loads and the acceptable depth of discharge. A load list is more useful than vessel length alone.

Should a marine battery have an IP rating?

The required ingress protection depends on installation location and exposure. The enclosure, vents, connectors and service method must be designed as one system.

Can the battery communicate with the vessel display?

CAN, RS485 or a project-specific interface can be reviewed when the vessel protocol, message requirements and display or inverter model are supplied.
